Some pressure washing work simply has to be done at height — and that means proper access equipment, not telescopic poles or extension ladders. Cherry pickers (powered access platforms or MEWPs) reach where poles can't, give the operator a stable working platform, and let us deliver consistent results across an entire facade. We use cherry pickers regularly for commercial cladding, signage, glass facades, large building cleans, and any job where pole reach isn't enough.
Cherry picker work is more involved than ground-based cleaning — there's traffic management to plan, IPAF qualifications to verify, RAMS to prepare, and surrounding pedestrian and vehicle protection to think about. We handle all of it as part of the package.

Equipment we use
We hire cherry pickers from specialist access providers across the North East to match each job. Common equipment includes truck-mounted booms (working heights to 30m+), tracked spider booms (for narrow access and gardens), and scissor lifts for indoor/atrium work. All operators are IPAF-certified for the categories of MEWP they use, and we work to PASMA standards where applicable.
We can also work with rope access (IRATA-trained partners) for jobs where MEWPs aren't suitable — typically very tall buildings, awkward geometry, or sites without ground access for vehicles.
Health, safety and compliance
Working at height requires proper documentation. For every cherry picker job we provide:
- IPAF/PAL card copies for operators
- Site-specific RAMS (risk assessment + method statement)
- COSHH information for all chemicals
- £5m public liability insurance certificate
- MEWP rescue plan and ground crew briefing
- Traffic management plan where road or footpath closures are needed
- Pedestrian protection (cordons, signage, ground crew)

Pricing for cherry picker work
Cherry picker work is typically priced as a day rate that includes both the labour and the equipment hire. Day rates depend on the type of MEWP needed (truck mount vs tracked vs scissor), the duration, and any traffic management costs. We can give a fixed-price quote for jobs scoped properly in advance — surprises during works are kept to a minimum because we plan thoroughly.
For ongoing or repeat cherry picker work — annual cladding cleans, scheduled signage maintenance — we offer retained pricing with priority booking.

Are your operators IPAF certified?
Yes — every operator working from a MEWP holds a valid IPAF/PAL card for the relevant category. Card details are supplied to clients on request.
Do you arrange traffic management?
Yes — for jobs requiring road or pavement closures, we coordinate traffic management plans, council permits and lane closures as part of the project.
Can you work in confined urban spaces?
Yes — tracked spider lifts can reach through narrow access points and operate in tight spaces. We assess access at the quote stage and choose the right MEWP for the site.
Is rope access an option?
Yes — for tall or geometrically awkward buildings we work with IRATA-certified rope access partners.
