Outdoor barbecue and grill being cleaned with a pressure washer

An outdoor barbecue earns its keep in summer and gets shamefully neglected the rest of the year. Carbon build-up on grills, grease coating the inside of the firebox, food residue on shelves, and spider colonies in the burner compartment all turn what should be the centrepiece of your garden into something unappetising. Our barbecue cleaning service strips back years of build-up and leaves your BBQ ready to cook on without the crust of last summer's burger fat.

We work on domestic gas BBQs, charcoal grills, smokers, kamados, and outdoor kitchens. The deep clean usually takes 2–4 hours depending on size and condition, and the result is a barbecue that cooks better, smokes less, and looks the part.

What a deep BBQ clean covers

  • Grills and grates β€” carbon build-up burned off and scrubbed clean
  • Burners and gas tubes β€” carefully cleaned without damage to ports
  • Heat shields and flame tamers β€” degreased and de-carbonised
  • Firebox interior β€” accumulated fat and food debris cleared
  • Drip trays and grease management system β€” emptied and cleaned
  • External casing β€” stainless steel polished, painted surfaces cleaned
  • Side burners and warming racks
  • Smoker boxes and flavouriser bars
  • Outdoor kitchen worktops β€” granite, stone, stainless cleaned and polished

Why DIY BBQ cleaning rarely cuts it

The honest truth is that even the most diligent owner usually only cleans the grills after each cook. The firebox interior, the burner ports, the underside of the heat shields β€” these get neglected for years, even on premium BBQs. Built-up grease becomes a fire hazard, attracts vermin, and creates the off-flavour you sometimes get from a long-unused barbecue.

We strip the BBQ down properly. Grills and removable parts are degreased in our solution tanks. The firebox is hand-scraped and pressure-washed at controlled pressure (high enough to lift fat, gentle enough to spare the powder coat). Burners are cleaned with brass brushes and the gas ports inspected. The result is essentially as-new internally β€” many customers tell us their BBQ cooks better than it did when first bought.

Stainless steel restoration

External stainless steel BBQs develop pitting, water staining and rust spots over the years, particularly in coastal areas of the North East. We can polish stainless back to a clean satin finish using specialist stainless-steel cleaning products and microfibre detail work. Heavy pitting won't fully restore but the appearance improves dramatically.

When to book

Ideal times: end of season (October/November) before storage, or start of season (March/April) before first use. We do plenty of cleans in mid-summer too for owners who realise they can't face cooking on what's in there. Lead times are usually 1–2 weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Can you clean my BBQ at my house?

Yes β€” we work on site. We bring our own kit, water and disposal containers. Most BBQs don't need to be moved.

Will it damage the BBQ?

No β€” we use BBQ-safe degreasers and controlled pressure. Powder coat, paint, stainless steel and porcelain enamel all tolerate our process.

Do you replace burners or gas parts?

No β€” we clean. If we spot worn or damaged parts during the clean, we tell you so you can order replacements separately.

How long does a deep clean take?

2–4 hours for a standard 3–4 burner gas BBQ. Larger outdoor kitchens can take a full day.
